Setya Novanto juga. Walau semula sulit membawanya jadi tersangka tapi sidangnya terus jadi berita. Pada hakim diberitahunya siapa saja yang dapat uang. Terutama uang suap dalam proyek buat KTP. Urutan nama itu mencengangkan karena menyangkut nama pejabat hingga gurbenur. Pastilah yang dituduh membantahnya. Politisi selalu seperti itu: bertengkar ketika ada aib yang dibongkar.
Menyusul kemudian para pendukung. Menafsirkan apa yang dimaksud dengan ngibul. Memastikan prediksi tentang bubar. Bersama politisi kebenaran bukan diukur dari apa yang sesungguhnya terjadi. Melainkan apa yang dibilang oleh petinggi partainya sendiri. Tugas politisi itu membenarkan apa yang dinyatakan oleh kawanya dan membengkokkan apa yang dinyatakan seterunya.
Dari mana politisi itu muncul? Muncul politisi itu dari kesempatan. Terbit karena keadaan yang memungkinkan. Tak pernah diketahui apa latar belakangnya tapi yang diketahui adalah modal yang dipunyainya. Partai politik jadi rahim tempat lahirnya mereka semua. Partai yang didirikan karena ada kesempatan dan memang ada yang mengongkosi itu semua.
Ongkos jadi bahan dasar tindak-tanduk politisi. Sebab semua kegiatan politik harus keluar ongkos. Baik ongkos agar dikenal atau supaya diingat. Jika tak percaya tengok saja baliho yang ada di jalanan. Termuat wajah politisi yang gembira dan ingin mencalonkan diri jadi pemimpin. Seolah dengan tampang yang seperti itu layak mereka untuk dipilih.
Keyakinan agar dipilih itu yang buat politisi melakukan apapun. Sesekali mencuri uang rakyat dengan taktik yang dibuka berkali-kali oleh KPK. Lebih sering komentar yang unsurnya selalu sama: sensasional, kontroversial dan menyakitkan. Terutama untuk etika dan akal sehat. Perkataan yang tidak ditimbang baik buruknya dan kurang diukur nilai kemanfaatanya.
Mungkin ada kebutuhan mendesak untuk ajari mereka bagaimana menyatakan sesuatu. Secara sederhana, logis dan jenaka. Kita pernah punya politisi pintar macam itu. Namanya agamis sekali: Haji Agus Salim. Suka menyindir tapi tak pernah menyakitkan. Hidupnya begitu sederhana: kontrak sana sini dengan anak yang menguasai banyak bahasa. Pada masanya politisi itu modalnya singkat saja: punya pengetahuan yang komplit dengan hidup yang apa adanya.
Mereka dibesarkan oleh teman-teman sebaya. Punya musuh politik yang sama pintarnya. Memiliki hoby yang sama: baca, musik dan organisasi. Politik itu bukan kegiatan yang memusuhi tapi menginspirasi. Politik itu hidup dalam suasana yang ramah bukan marah. Dan kalau ada beda maka yang dicari adalah argumentasi bukan fitnah membabi buta. Politik yang memperjuangkan harapan bukan meniupkan kecemasan.
Mungkin tak ada yang salah dengan politisi macam begini. Muncul mereka dalam adegan yang bisa berbeda-beda: dulu musuh, sekarang teman lalu bisa bermusuhan lagi. Kita harus maklum karena inilah karir yang sulit untuk dipahami. Mereka punya uang banyak sekali dan komentar yang lebih banyak lagi. Hanya saja kita berdoa agar rakyat bisa sabar menyaksikan itu semua. Sebab hanya rakyat yang bisa menghukumnya dan tidak memilihnya. Rakyat yang akan mengukur batas kerakusan mereka.
Kadang kita musti berani bertanya pada diri sendiri: apa kita masih butuh politisi semacam ini?
