Sudah lama sebenarnya saya ingin membuat suatu tulisan tentang rokok yang menyebabkan saling sikut kepentingan antar aktivis didalamnya. Sebut saja, mulai dari aktivis mahasiswa, aktivis lembaga, aktivis media, penggiat literasi, penggiat budaya, pekerja seni, dan sebagainya. Terutama ketika saya membaca salah satu tulisan di salah satu media online yang kini digemari banyak pembaca Indonesia. Tulisan itu mengklaimkan bahwa ‘semua itu adalah semata persaingan bisnis global’ antar korporasi, lembaga donor maupun para pengusaha. ya, termasuk perusahaan rokok. Itu salah satunya. Memangnya semua hal terkait rokok adalah masalah persaingan, mas? Memangnya semua penelitian tentang itu adalah faktor kepentingan bisnis? Masa sich? Kok saya kurang percaya? Lantas apakah rumah sakit itu didirikan hanya semata alasan persaingan antara pengobatan modern dengan pengobatan tradisional ala dukun? Alih-alih ala kencing onta. Dan, apakah mas-nya bukan merupakan bagian dari persaingan itu sendiri? Sederet pertanyaan itu perlu kiranya kita lihat latar belakangnya.
Dari tulisan tersebut saya melihat bahwa artikel yang dibangun kok tendensius sekali, dan kesannya membingungkan sekaligus menarik bagi yang suka cerita-cerita konyol. Ini seperti ‘geguyonan’ saja atau lucu-lucuan saat berselancar di medsos. Ini sama seperti cerita-cerita kebanyakan orang tentang seringnya kehilangan sandal di masjid, daripada hilang di lokalisasi. Yang terlebih lucu, ada perbandingan liar yang diperlihatkan oleh penulis tentang polemik polusi. “Singkirkan dulu pertanyaan nakal Anda: kenapa kok asap rokok saja, kenapa tidak asap pabrik dan asap knalpot?”. Begitu secara satir penulis membandingkan polemik polusi untuk mencoba melegitimasi pemikiran banyak orang. Seolah-olah bahwa tidak laik orang-orang mempermasalahkan asap rokok sebagai salah satu masalah karena ada asap lainnya seperti kendaraan dan pabrik. Kalau memang seperti itu, bahwa asap pabrik maupun kendaraan sudah bermasalah, maka logikanya jangan tambah lagi dengan polusi lainnya. Hallooooo….. Ini yang menurut saya mengapa artikel tersebut sedikit menggelikan. Jelas lucu karena tulisan tersebut sedari awal sudah kentara kepentingannya; menyusu pada korporasi. Dan penulis bercerita pula bahwa pernah suatu saat mengantar anak kecilnya berobat di salah satu klinik kesehatan, dan dirinya yang seorang penulis saat itu juga diminta oleh sang dokter untuk membantunya menuliskan tentang kampanye kesehatan yang banyak tidak diketahui orang. Karena menurut sang dokter, orang sekarang ini banyak mendapat info yang salah tentang kesehatan yang banyak di share kan di medsos. Seperti dilarang mengkonsumsi gula dan garam yang dianggap bisa mempengaruhi kesehatan. “Dua tahun yang lalu saya memeriksakan anak saya yang saat itu berumur 3 tahun ke dokter keluarga kami. Dokter yang sekaligus dosen itu kira-kira bilang begini kepada saya, “Pak Puthut, Anda kan penulis, tolong bantu saya dan teman-teman. Sekarang ini banyak sekali orang latah antigula dan antigaram. Sedikit-sedikit selalu kami dengar: gula berbahaya, garam berbahaya. Itu dikatakan kepada sembarang orang, lalu dipraktikkan dengan cara sembarangan”. Uasemmm tenin dokter ki, kakean micin kali ya.
Tapi yang bikin saya sangat terkejut adalah saat mas penulis mengungkapkan bahwa semua hal itu adalah urusan diri sendiri. Kalau orang mau merokok, miras dan sebagainya, maka itu terserah pribadinya, tidak boleh dibatasi. Mungkin termasuk juga hobi ngentot-ngentot dan sebagainya itu ya mas. Bahkan termasuk oleh negara. Wuaaapikkkk tenan mas. Tapi kok ada bau-bau yang tidak sedap karena ada yang mulai terusik tambang pendapatannya. Dan karena itu juga sampeyan katakan semua lawan sampeyan adalah sebagai penganut fasisme. Kejam. Kejam. Cara berpikirmu aspal, asoy mas. Sedap seperti mendengar lagu jaran goyang Nella Kharisma. “Karena di Amerika dan Eropa sana, awal mula perang nikotin ini, merokok dianggap sebagai kebebasan individu. Toh kalau anggaplah tidak sehat, maka itu pilihan bebas individu. Hampir sama logikanya dengan miras”. Nah apik tenan toh. Makanya kalau ada yang mati karena menenggak oplosan, maka yang patut disalahkan adalah orang itu sendiri. Jangan salahkan orang yang meracik, membuat dan menjual oplosan tersebut. Apalagi kalau pak polisi mau mempidanakannya. Pidana kan saja yang sudah mati tersebut. Masukkan mayatnya ke penjara. Bukankah begitu mas. Ach… sampaeyan pasti lebih banyak tahu dari saya mas. Wkwkwkw. Apalagi setelah membaca Nicotin War Wanda Hamidah Hamilton. Wes pokoke kabeh sing urusan rokok kuwi adalah persaingan menjilat kemaluan bisnis global. Apapun penelitiannya, tetap buku tersebut mengatakan itu adalah persaingan bisnis. Dan apa yang dibilang Wanda dalam buku itu harus kita teladani sebagai satu-satunya sumber sahih. Kebenarannya sebelas duabelas dengan kebenaran Tuhan.
Lalu setelah keinginan tersebut mandeg, kembali saya baca lagi tulisan serupa di salah satu media onlen personal yang dibagikan di pesbuk. Tulisan dari dedek manis berjilbab yang juga aktif dalam kelompok sastra. Judulnya ngeri-ngeri sedap seperti judul sampeyan. Kalau sampeyan membuat artikel dengan judul “Rezim Anti-Antian Yang Menganggu Kewarasan Nalar Kita”. Sementara adek manis ini memberikan judul “Fitnah Rokok Turun Temurun”. Saya cek di bio nya, adek ini adalah Mahasiswa Aqidah Filsafat UIN Jakarta. Barangkali terhubung dengan mas penulis, sama-sama pernah belajar filsafat. Adek ini juga bergiat di Forum Mahasiswa Ciputat (FORMACI) dan Komunitas Sastra RusaBesi. Besar nanti mungkin ia akan jadi seorang sastrawan atau budayawan, mirip Butet atawa Sobary mas. Atau barangkali juga adek ini bisa di kader di media onlen sampeyan mas. Asal jangan di apa-apa-kan ya. Maksudnya jangan dikecewakan. Hatinya mudah rapuh mas. Salam dengan Arman Maulana Dhani mas, kanca mas sing pancen markotop. Hehe…
Oh ya, kalau kita bikin sedikit riset (gaya el-es-em) di masyarakat tentang rokok ini bagaimana mas? Tapi benar-benar masyarakat awam. Yang jauh dari propaganda kedua belah pihak yang pro dan kontra. Kita kasih saja satu pertanyaan; Apakah masyarakat mengajarkan anaknya untuk merokok sejak usia dini? Ya dan Tidak, alasannya apa?
Mungkin itu bisa memberi kita pemahaman yang lebih jernih mas. Asal kita tidak egois pada keyakinan kita di awal tadi. Soalnya saya beberapa kali di tempat umum mendapati orang yang tidak suka dengan bau rokok (bukan bau cengkih atau tembakau ya) yang sudah disulut api. Mereka menghindar, atau menutup bagian hidung dan mulutnya dengan sesuatu. Ketika saya tanya apakah mereka anti rokok? Jawabnya tidak lho mas. Mereka mempersilahkan orang untuk merokok. Cuma mereka sedikit risih ketika asapnya menyembur kemana-mana. Disini saya berpikir; mereka menghormati perokok, tidak marah, tidak mencak-mencak, tidak memprovokasi, serta tidak neko-neko dengan para perokok, tetapi apa perokok menghormati mereka? Kalau saling menghormati, kenapa ada satu pihak yang terbebani. Harusnya bila semua itu fair, semuanya harusnya sama-sama senang tanpa ada yang merasa terbebani. Apalagi saat saya tanya apakah mereka seperti itu karena terprovokasi propaganda bisnis kesehatan. Mereka bingung mas. Mungkin saja tidak tahu sama sekali tentang itu. Lalu orang seperti ini apakah harus kita tiadakan dalam kenyataannya mas? Apakah dunia ini terbelah dua hanya antara yang pro dan kontra tentang rokok. Tapi lupakan cerita saya tersebut mas. Subjektif memang kalau tidak kita tanyakan dan saksikan langsung secara bersama.
Sampai sini dulu mas cuap-cuap tanpa refensi ini ya. Saya sebetulnya tidak berani ngomen tulisan sampeyan sing abot kuwi mas. Makom saya kurang tinggi. Ape kate dunia kalau saya tetap ngotot-ngotot maksaken kehendak. Moso cah newbi ngomen sing wes malang melintang di dunia per-aktipis-an. Isin aku mas. Mengko malah aku di cap fasisme tingkat kuadrat pula. Bikin tambah pusing. Semakin pusing, malah nanti menyebabkan kerontokan jembut rambut. Aku arep komen di tulisan adek UIN iki wae mas. Mas’e nek gelem moco, yo ra popo, monggo di sekecakaken. Tapi sejujurnya alasanku ngomenni tulisan dedek manis ini biar bisa kenalan mas. Siapa tahu ada derai-derai cinta yang nyetrum. Maaf sok lebay. Maksudnya siapa tahu nanti ada tanggapan darinya. Mungkin yang terburuk dan tidak ber-etika adalah caci makian. Hahaha…..
anak istri sampeyan sudah mulai merokok belum mas? Aku hakul yakin sampeyan bisa mengajari mereka bahkan dengan sangat baik mas daripada penggiat komunitas perokok bijak, kretek dan sebagainya.

Baiklah. Saya tidak akan berlama-lama. Seperti yang sudah saya bilang, bahwa saya akan menanggapi tulisan adek cantek saja ini mas. Tapi jujur saya tidak terlalu terkejut membaca artikel yang ditulis oleh dek Ayu Alfiah Jonas ini. Link nya bisa dilihat disini. https://bolehmerokok.com/fitnah-rokok-turun-temurun/. Sebuah media onlen yang menaungi propagandis-propagandis korporasi. Salah satunya. Dan masih ada lagi. Termasuk yang dikelola………? Hehehe…. Judulnya agak serem mas. Fitnah Rokok Turun Temurun. Kok ada ya orang yang berani melakukan fitnah turun temurun. Jahat kali orang tersebut. Pasti kalau mati ia masuk neraka tingkat ke tujuh. Tidak bisa ber-reinkarnasi lagi. Ataupun kalau masih bisa bereinkarnasi, maka pasti ia akan bersaudaraan dengan Cu Pat Kai. Hehehe…
“Selain melawan bungkusnya sendiri, rokok juga melawan cara berpikir yang kaku. Klaim rokok mematikan dirawat turun-temurun, tertanam dalam otak generasi tua hingga muda. Padahal, sebagian besar pemikir dan tokoh besar kecanduan rokok. Rokok telah memberi inspirasi pada tokoh-tokoh besar bangsa Indonesia seperti Pramoedya Ananta Toer, Chairil Anwar dan Agus Salim”. Ini yang ditulis dek Ayu dalam artikelnya.
Inilah yang membuatku senang dengan dek Ayu. Walau usianya masih belia, tetapi rasa ideologisnya itu kentara sekali. Lihatlah ada sederet nama pesohor kita yang disebutkan itu. Mereka bukan orang yang main-main. Dua orang diantaranya adalah sastrawan besar bangsa ini. Dan satunya lagi tokoh Sarekat Islam. Dan yang sangat gagah itu adalah ketika ia mengatakan bahwa rokok telah menginspirasi para tokoh tersebut. Menginspirasi apa ya? Kok disini ngawur sekali argumennya. Kalau dikatakan menginspirasi kemerdekaan dan perjuangan, saya rasa itu terlalu berlebihan. Justru penderitaan rakyat yang lama tertindas oleh penjajah dan feodalisme inilah yang menginspirasi mereka untuk memerdekakan bangsa ini, dek Ayu. Disini dek Ayu kiranya kita perlu melihat kembali lembaran-lembaran sejarah yang telah banyak ditulis. Dan membacanya. Tidak sekedar membolak -balik halaman per halaman saja, mencari-cari kalau ada gambar menarik. Baru tahu apa, siapa dan mengapa inspirasi itu ada, dikerjakan dan alasan untuk memperjuangkannya. Tapi sekali lagi kalau mau membacanya.
Dan tentang fitnah rokok penyebab kematian dirawat hingga sekarang. Bahkan dek Ayu sempat menyitir sebuah lembaga riset, The Lancet, yang merilis data dari 195 negara dalam kurun waktu 1990-2016, yang mengatakan bahwa penyebab kematian terbesar didunia adalah jantung, diabetes, stroke dan diet. “Penyakit Tuberkulosis lantaran kebiasaan merokok justru tak tertera dalam daftar utama. Ini membuktikan, setidaknya, ada banyak hal yang lebih baik kita jaga ketimbang melarang merokok, bahkan mengklaim rokok sebagai penyebab kematian. Kondisi jantung, sistem pencernaan, dan gaya hidup dengan asupan makanan tak sehat justru kurang diperhatikan” tulisnya lagi.
Hahaha… masa iya sih dek, penelitian ilmiah kesehatan itu seperti tidak ada korelasi keterkaitannya antara satu hal dengan hal lainnya. Kalau seperti itu, penyebab semua kematian umat manusia di dunia ini dari jaman purba sampai jaman bumi datar adalah jantung. Jantungnya yang berhenti berdetak. Bukan karena stroke, tuberkolosis, gula, bencana atau lainnya. Apalagi jomblo. Tapi karena jantung. Saat jantung manusia berhenti berdetak, maka ia mati. Benar gak? Hehehe….
Memaksakan argumen-argumen seperti ini saya teringat dengan sebuah penelitian tentang keperawan mahasiswi di Jogja. Dilakukan oleh aktivis, akademisi bahkan sekarang nyambi jadi ustadz. Dikatakan bahwa 90 persen mahasiswi di Jogja tidak perawan lagi. Hebat kan. Keperawanan seseorang dirilis hanya dengan polling kuantitatif. Seharusnya……, ach dek Ayu pasti lebih tahulah bagaimana keperawanan seseorang itu bisa dikatakan rusak atau tidak. Masa rusak tidaknya bagian ‘miss v’ itu hanya distandarkan dari pertanyaan-pertanyaan. Ini masalah kredibilitasnnya mana yang lebih afdol; tindakan medis atau pertanyaan-pertanyaan saja. Apalagi kalau sudah bicara soal kematian seperti yang dek Ayu lansir rilisnya tadi.
Tapi oke lah. Ini hal yang pertama. Ok, kita kesampingan dulu urusan kematian. Kita ambil saja urusan lainnya seperti masalah candu pada umumnya. Akan lebih fair kemudian bahwa perokok mengakui sebab akibat dari rokok. Saya merokok, tetapi saya mengakui efeknya yang menyebabkan saya mencandu untuk selalu dan selalu merokok. Tindakan yang mencandu itulah yang dikatakan berlebihan. Setidaknya tidak baik lagi implikasinya. Apapun materinya. Termasuk ideologi yang berlebihan, juga tidak baik. Apalagi dalam kontek beragama. Apalagi mencandu hidup dari donor. Maka itu saya tidak menyarankan orang lain untuk mengikutinya, apalagi mencari-cari alasan pembenaran akan hal itu.
Sampai disini kiranya kita bisa mendudukkan permasalahannya. Saya juga tidak menampik kerja-kerja lembaga atau apapun itu yang bergerak atawa lebih tepatnya yang di biayai oleh lembaga donor anti rokok. Tapi begitu juga dengan lembaga atau apapun itu yang menetek pada perusahan rokok. Semua melakukan kampanye menyerang, bahkan sangat sering dengan saling memfitnah. Penelitian kesehatan yang telah dilakukan oleh banyak dunia seharusnya menjadi rujukan netral tentang hal itu. Saya masih yakin ada penelitian yang dilakukan tanpa embel-embel perang bisnis global. Termasuk yang mengakui bahwa efek buruk pada kesehatan sebagai dampaknya. Kalau mau membantahnya, maka bantahlah dengan penelitian ilmiah juga. Bukan dengan polling seperti di atas tadi. Jadi jelas, kemudian yang fitnah itu siapa dan seperti apa.
Yang kedua adalah soal membawa klaim nama pesohor. Seperti Pram, Chairil Anwar dan Agus Salim. Bahkan di artikel lainnya, ada juga nama Soekarno, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro dan lain-lain yang di klaim-kan juga. Mungkin biar ada kesan ideologisnya. Bukankah begitu dek Ayu? Maksudnya biar kelihatan sangar dan gahar. Seperti band Mettalica saat pentas. Tapi menurutku, kalau persoalan rokok ini mengklaimkan nama-nama pesohor itu, sama saja artinya dengan mengkerdilkan, menghinakan kerja-kerja revolusioner mereka. Seolah sempit sekali cara pandang kita tentang mereka yang telah berpeluh darah berjuang demi bangsanya ini, bangsa kita. Saya termasuk yang tidak setuju nama pesohor itu diklaimkan. Karena itu adalah pahlawan-pahlawan yang telah berjuang memerdekaan bangsa kita ini. Tidak hanya sebatas ‘udutan’ lho.
Maksud saya adalah jangan membawa-bawa nama pesohor atau pahlawan kalau tidak mengetahui bahkan mengikuti sepak terjang yang dilakukannya untuk bangsa ini dan bangsa lainnya. Para pesohor itu telah berbuat keras pada penjajah, melawannya, bentrok dengan yang menyebabkan ketidakadilan serta berani ditangkap atau ditahan penguasa selama bertahun-tahun. Nah apakah kita di jaman now ini, apalagi seperti dek Ayu, bisa menuruti kerja para pesohor tersebut, berani dengan keras melawan ketidakadilan, berani bentrok bahkan berani ditahan, seperti terjun langsung dalam kasus penggusuran yang terjadi di banyak tempat di Indonesia ini? Kalau tidak, maka jangan ‘sok’ biologis ideologis dengan melakukan legitimasi yang serampangan dengan mengklaimkan nama pesohor atau pahlawan tersebut. Itu tidak sehat dan tidak baik lho dek kalau kita terus mengklaimkan kepribadian sesorang untuk meligitimasinya secara liar untuk memuaskan hasrat nafsu kepentingan kita.
Apakah dengan Pram merokok, maka kita men-sah-kan rokok dan memujanya sebagai suatu aktivitas kebenaran yang harus ditiru dan dilakoni oleh seluruh rakyat Indonesia. Adil sejak dalam pikiran tidak sesempit itu maknanya dek. Tentu tidak seperti itu. Pram merokok bukan berarti dia bekerja bagi perusahaan rokok dan kampanye anti kesehatan. Tidak sama sekali. Sama sekali tidak. Setidaknya tidak ada pernyataan tentang itu. Kalau kita tetap memakai klaim tersebut untuk pembenaran, maka ketika Muhammad SAW menjadikan istri para janda-janda sahabat yang tewas di medan perang, maka kita harus setuju dan berkampanye agar semua lelaki harus melakukan poligami serupa. Kalau seperti itu logikanya, maka itu sama saja dengan kita men-sunnah-kan yang wajib dan me-wajib-kan yang sunnah. Secara lebih luas, Muhammad mengajar Islam secara utuh, bukan mengajarkan tentang poligaminya saja. Tapi mengapa ajarannya yang lebih luas malah banyak yang kita tinggalkan dan mengapa hanya poligaminya saja yang kita ingat bahkan sering ditiru lakukan. Inilah yang jadi pertanyaan saat kita melihat salah satu ustad artis beberapa waktu yang lalu memamerkan ke-3 istrinya di hadapan media. Orang-orang bertanya, atau mungkin juga dek Ayu juga bertanya-tanya, mengapa ajaran Muhammad yang diingat dan diumbar sang ustad hanya masalah poligaminya saja. Bukankah itu hanya pamer syahwat namanya. Mengapa tidak hal yang lainnya yang lebih bermanfaat bagi umat yang justru bisa dibanggakan.
Hal seperti itu kiranya persis sama seperti para pesohor atau pahlawan yang dek Ayu klaim kan tersebut, mereka dahulu itu mengajarkan kita bagaimana melawan imperialis, feodalisme serta merebut kemerdekaan dari penjajah, bukan mengajarkan tentang cara menghisap rokok. Ingat, bukan mengajarkan kita cara menghisap rokok lho. Tetapi mengapa kerja-kerjanya serta ajarannya sendiri tidak kita pahami, tidak mengerti dan tidak mampu mengaplikannya dalam ketidakadilan yang banyak terjadi di negeri ini, akan tetapi gaya merokoknya saja yang kita ikuti bahkan di besar-besarkan sebagai hal yang paling benar seperti PR yang diberikan korporasi pada banyak aktivis kita. Begitu juga dengan Pram, Chairil, Salim, Soekarno, mereka bukan membawa kampanye Philip Moris, Budi dan Michael Hartono atawa lembaga-lembaga yang menetek dengannya. Mereka berjuang untuk kemerdekaan kita dek. Bukan untuk perusahaan rokok. Sekali lagi bukan dek.
Dan yang ketiga, sebagai mahasiswa memang dianjurkan untuk selalu membela mereka yang tertindas, terutama rakyat kecil dek. Itu bakti sebagai seorang mahasiswa; agen of change. Apalagi adek dari kampus UIN yang ada label Islam nya. Pastilah melawan kebatilan adalah keharusan. Sampaikanlah walau cuma satu ayat. Itu pesan Islam yang kita anut dek. Tapi ayat mana yang mesti kita sampaikan, itu yang harus kita cermati lebih jeli lagi. Jangan sampai kita menyuarakan sesuatu yang kita yakini benar padahal keliru karena kita sendiri tidak pernah mengutik-utik masalah sesungguhnya. Kita hanya dapat info-info sekilas saja, provokasi-provokasi menarik para penjilat lubang pantat kapitalis. Alih-alih membela yang miskin, malah kita melanggengkan korporasi yang memang sedari awal tujuannya adalah menyingkirkan kehidupan yang tidak menguntungkan bagi mereka. Dek Ayu pernah baca langsung polemik pertembakauan di Indonesia belum? Pernah dengar dan lihat isi RUU Pertembakauan? Bagaimana regulasi itu awal mula di daftarkan? Mengapa ada upaya menghilangkan rancangan itu agar tidak masuk dalam pembahasan yang bisa menyimpulkan dua kemungkinan? Tahukah dek Ayu siapa Philip Moris? Tahukah dek Ayu mengapa perusahaan rokok kayanya naudzubillah sementara petani tembakau miskinnya juga naudzubillah padahal selama ini kita sudah punya undang-undang tentang pertanian, perdagangan, cukai, tenaga kerja dan lain-lain? Termasuk tentang saling hormat menghormati yang sudah saya sampaikan sebelumnya.
Terakhir, saya ingin katakan bahwa saya ini juga merokok lho dek Ayu. Tapi saya tidak menyarankan orang untuk mengikuti jejak saya seperti ini. Karena itu berat dan serius. Biarlah saya tanggungkan sendiri karena sudah kebacut, terlanjur mencandu. Itu efek buruk yang saya maksud. Candu. Setidaknya candu ini merusak isi kantong saya. Ini bukan masalah aroma yang harum atau tidak. Hehe.. mungkin karena itulah ada orang bertanya dengan saya. Mereka tanya mengapa saya seperti menjilat ludah sendiri. Dan saya katakan bahwa lebih baik ludah sendiri yang saya jilat, meski berkali-kali daripada menjilat ludah orang lain. Apalagi menjilat ludah korporasi kapitalis yang diludahkan lagi oleh komparador lainnya. Tapi banyak yang bersedia menjilat ludah orang lain, apalagi ludah korporasi kapitalis tersebut. Ada sastrawan, budayawan, aktivis, bahkan alim ulama. Asal mereka dapat fulus dari aktivitas jilat menjilat itu. Apa namanya kalau seperti itu? Lacur, mungkin iya. Lacur yang lacur. Itu lebih parah.
